IIT-BHU’s I-DAPT Hub to Roll Out Major Grants for Tech Startups and Research Projects Across Key Sectors

StartUp News Desk

In a major boost for India’s growing innovation ecosystem, IIT-BHU is all set to announce significant grants from its I-DAPT Hub Foundation to foster promising technology startups and research projects. The funding program-in the offing to incentivize disruptive solutions both in emerging and traditional sectors-will focus on critical areas, including but not limited to agriculture, healthcare, drones, power systems, finance, and education. With this, IIT-BHU further cements its position as one of the most prominent supporters of deep-tech entrepreneurship and research-driven innovation in India.

The Interdisciplinary Data Analytics and Predictive Technologies Hub, better known as I-DAPT Hub, was instituted at IIT-BHU under NM-ICPS. Since its inception, the Hub has aimed to accelerate the development of data-driven technologies and foster collaboration between academia, industry, and government. The newly announced grant program represents a scaling-up of these efforts, providing financial support to innovators addressing some of India’s most pressing technological challenges.

Targeting high-impact sectors

The grants are expected to span a broad range of fields where technological intervention can create measurable impact. For example, in agriculture, the Hub is likely to support startups that provide smart farming solutions such as sensor-driven irrigation, predictive crop analytics, and AI-enabled pest management. Given that nearly half of India’s workforce is employed in agriculture, innovations in this field are positioned to change lives while improving productivity at scale.

In the healthcare sector, the emphasis is on solutions that enhance diagnostics, remote monitoring, and digital health services. The Indian health system still struggles to achieve the twin goals of equity and access. Applications revolving around AI-based medical imaging, wearable health devices, and telemedicine platforms hold immense potential for growth.

Targeted support will also be extended to the drone and UAV segment, one of the fastest-growing technology verticals in India. IIT-BHU will look at strengthening the ecosystem involving drones related to mapping, logistics, industrial inspections, and disaster management, for which recent government policies have opened up possibilities of innovation and commercialization.

Similarly, power and energy startups that work on optimization, predictive maintenance, and renewable-energy analytics will be eligible for funding. As India moves to clean and efficient energy frameworks, these innovations will be key to managing demand growth while also reducing environmental impact.

The grants will finance entrepreneurs developing secure, scalable, and inclusive digital financial solutions in finance and fintech. Other expected focus areas include AI-based fraud detection, risk analytics, automation of micro-lending, and blockchain-based systems.

Finally, in education, the Hub is seeking to fund projects through which learning experiences can be reimagined via AI, immersive technologies, and personalized education platforms that could lead to significantly better outcomes in urban and rural areas.

Strengthening Research-Industry Collaboration

Besides startups, the grants are also targeted at research groups, encouraging them to translate academic work into market-ready products and solutions. IIT-BHU plans to bridge this gap in translation from lab innovation to real-world adoption with this initiative. The I-DAPT Hub provides a key role in facilitating this transition through access to advanced infrastructure, mentorship, industry partnerships, and pilot-testing environments.

Both early-stage ideas and more mature prototypes ready for deployment are expected to benefit from the initiative. Researchers and entrepreneurs will also be able to collaborate with faculty experts, gain access to testing facilities, and leverage the Hub’s network to scale their solutions.

Building India’s Deep-Tech Ecosystem

With universities like IIT-BHU acting as important anchors, deep-tech innovation is growing rapidly in India. While the startup ecosystem of the country has grown manifold in the last ten years, deep-tech remains one arena where much potential remains untapped. By providing grants and institutional support, IIT-BHU hopes to not only create individual startups but also build India’s capability in high-tech areas like AI, robotics, data science, and cyber-physical systems.

This initiative comes at a time when global economies emphasize self-reliance and technology competitiveness. For India, a robust pipeline of deep-tech startups is a must to build national capabilities, create high-value jobs, and ensure long-term economic resilience.

A Step Toward Scalable, Sustainable Innovation The forthcoming grant release of IIT-BHU’s I-DAPT Hub Foundation significantly demonstrates a proactive attitude toward catalyzing innovation across segments that impact the lives of millions of people. Empowering startups and researchers with financial support, technical mentoring, and access to the ecosystem speeds up the development of scalable solutions to drive national progress. The grants can be expected to spur a flurry of pathbreaking ideas in smart agriculture systems, intelligent healthcare platforms, next-generation drones, optimized power grids, advanced fintech tools, and immersive learning technologies. In a larger sense, this initiative points toward a broader vision: to leverage data, technology, and interdisciplinarity in research to build a smarter, more efficient, and truly future-ready India.
