Lumikai Leads $1.5M Seed Round in AI Nursing Edtech Startup NPrep

StartUp News Desk

India’s healthcare sector continues to see rising demand for skilled professionals, especially nurses. At the same time, thousands of candidates across the country prepare each year for competitive nursing exams and global healthcare opportunities.

Tapping into this growing need, NPrep, a startup building an AI-powered skilling and placement platform for nursing students and professionals, has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Lumikai. ()

The funding round also saw participation from existing investor All In Capital along with Velo Partners, DSP Group Family Office, and several angel investors including Viren Shetty. ()

With the new capital, the Jodhpur-based startup plans to scale its AI-driven learning platform, expand exam-focused content, and reach more nursing candidates preparing for government and international healthcare roles.

A Growing Startup Focused on Nursing Careers

NPrep was founded in 2024 by Prince Kaushik, Utkarsh Paliwal, Gourav Khurana, and Shrey Gupta.

The founding team combines medical and technology expertise, including alumni from AIIMS Jodhpur and AI specialists who understand the challenges faced by nursing aspirants in India. ()

The startup aims to address a key gap in nursing education: access to personalised preparation tools and career-focused training.

Many nursing candidates in India still rely heavily on offline coaching centres or static resources such as PDFs and recorded lectures. These traditional approaches often lack personalised guidance and performance tracking.

NPrep is trying to change that by building an AI-powered learning platform designed specifically for nursing students.

How NPrep’s AI Learning Platform Works

NPrep’s platform focuses on exam preparation, skill development, and placement support for nurses aiming for government or international healthcare jobs.

Exam-Focused Video Content

The platform currently offers more than 1,400 hours of exam-aligned video content designed to help candidates prepare for high-stakes nursing exams. ()

These videos are structured to match actual exam patterns and cover key concepts required for nursing entrance and government recruitment exams.

AI Mentor and Personalised Study Plans

One of the platform’s key features is an AI mentor that guides students through their preparation journey.

The system analyses each learner’s strengths and weaknesses and creates personalised study plans to improve performance.

Practice Questions Based on Historical Data

The platform also provides curated questions derived from past exam data, helping students practise in conditions that resemble real test scenarios.

Along with this, performance tracking tools allow candidates to monitor their progress and focus on areas that need improvement.

These features aim to increase exam success rates and improve access to better career opportunities.

Expanding Access for Tier II and Tier III Cities

One of NPrep’s main goals is to support nursing students from smaller cities across India.

Students from tier II and tier III cities often face limited access to quality coaching centres or advanced learning resources.

Relocating to major cities for coaching can also be expensive and difficult for many candidates.

By offering a digital platform powered by AI, NPrep allows students to access high-quality preparation tools from anywhere.

This approach not only reduces the cost of preparation but also helps students continue their studies while managing other responsibilities.

Backing from Leading Investors

The seed round was led by Lumikai, a venture capital firm known for investing in digital platforms and interactive technology.

The round also included participation from All In Capital, which had previously backed the startup in its earlier pre-seed round.

Other investors joining the round include Velo Partners, DSP Group Family Office, and angel investors such as healthcare industry leader Viren Shetty. ()

The continued support from existing investors highlights confidence in the startup’s mission and early traction.

Earlier, NPrep had also raised an undisclosed pre-seed round led by All In Capital, with participation from IIMA Ventures, Chegg founder Aayush Phumbhra, and several family offices and angel investors. ()

Strong Early Traction in the Nursing Community

Since its launch, NPrep has already attracted significant attention among nursing students.

According to the company, more than 100,000 nurses have used the platform within the first 10 months. ()

During this period, learners have consumed more than six million minutes of video content and answered over 31 million practice questions on the platform.

These early engagement numbers indicate strong demand for structured digital preparation tools in the nursing education space.

The Opportunity in India’s Nursing Education Market

India has one of the largest nursing workforces in the world, with more than 3 million registered nurses and midwives. ()

Every year, hundreds of thousands of new graduates enter the workforce, while many candidates also compete for government nursing jobs or seek employment opportunities abroad.

Government hospital roles and international placements often offer significantly higher salaries compared to entry-level positions in private hospitals.

For example, nurses working in private hospitals may earn around Rs 20,000 per month, while those who clear government exams can earn several times more. ()

This strong financial incentive creates a large demand for exam preparation platforms focused specifically on nursing careers.

Using AI to Transform Healthcare Education

The founders of NPrep believe artificial intelligence can play a major role in improving education and career outcomes.

Traditional coaching models often rely on one-size-fits-all teaching methods, where every student follows the same curriculum regardless of individual learning needs.

AI-powered platforms, however, can personalise the learning experience.

By analysing student behaviour, performance data, and learning patterns, AI systems can recommend tailored content and study paths.

This approach not only improves engagement but also increases the chances of exam success.

For healthcare professionals such as nurses, better preparation can directly translate into better career opportunities and higher salaries.

What the New Funding Will Support

With the newly raised $1.5 million, NPrep plans to focus on three key priorities.

Expanding the AI Learning Platform

The company will further develop its AI-powered tools to improve personalisation and learning outcomes.

Building More Exam-Focused Content

NPrep plans to expand its library of exam-aligned video lessons and practice materials.

Reaching More Nursing Candidates

The startup also aims to scale its reach across India by making its platform accessible to more nursing aspirants preparing for government and international healthcare roles.

The Road Ahead

The intersection of education technology, artificial intelligence, and healthcare training represents a rapidly growing opportunity.

As demand for skilled healthcare professionals continues to rise globally, platforms that help candidates prepare for competitive exams and job opportunities are likely to see strong adoption.

NPrep’s focus on personalised learning and career outcomes positions it within this emerging space.

With fresh funding and growing traction among students, the startup now aims to expand its impact across India’s nursing community.

If successful, it could help thousands of nursing candidates access better education, stronger exam preparation, and higher-paying healthcare careers both in India and abroad.
